Textile Enterprise Pakistan Power Station Gas

The Pakistan petroleum and natural gas administration (OGRA) issued a notice that the gas price rise of the textile mill's self provided power station dropped from 69% to 31%, and has been implemented since July 1, 2008.

This measure will ease the difficulties of textile enterprises. The government raised the gas price of its own power station by 68%.

After the national protests in the textile industry, the cabinet Coordination Committee (ECC) held its meeting in July 15th to approve the price cut.

However, OGRA announced that the gas price at the free power limit gas turbine power station's sales price rose to 848.10 rupees ($11.28) / MMBTU from 443.06 rupees / MMBTU.

OGRA also informed that the minimum monthly cost was 25135.57 rupees, which was 13131.24 rupees per month.

The selling price is 329.54 rupees / MMBTU, 422.60 rupees / MMBTU before the adjustment, and the lowest cost of the self provided power station is 11111.89 rupee / month, compared with 14249.96 rupees before.

The textile industry contributed more than 60% of Pakistan's total exports.

70 to 80 percent of textile factories and other large manufacturing enterprises have their own power stations.
